What you are buying

Infrared emitters warm the body directly while the cabin air stays at 45–60 °C. A two-seat cabin pulls between 1.5 and 2.5 kW and warms up within a quarter of an hour. With no stones to pour water on, it offers no löyly, and we describe it for what it is; in island heat, plenty of people prefer its softer warmth to a 90 °C cabin.

The panels and control units are Sentiotec or EOS, both on our official-dealer list since 2015.

Power from the PUC supply

The Seychelles runs on 240 V, 50 Hz, with the square three-pin socket. Current draw sits between 7 and 10 A, inside a 13 A fused plug; even so, the electrician runs a separate circuit for it, away from the kitchen and the air conditioning.

A typical forty-minute session consumes roughly 1.3 kWh — a small addition to a villa bill, and small enough that a household inverter or solar battery can carry a session through a short cut.

Salt air and empty months

Electronics dislike two things the islands provide in quantity: salt spray and long closed-up periods in humid air. The cabin goes indoors or under a solid roof, away from open sea air, and for holiday flats that sit closed for months we include a fitted cover and a leaving routine: isolate the power, prop the door, cover it, and leave a fan or dehumidifier on if the flat has one.

Getting it into the building

Flat-packed crates come straight from our factory. We check the service lift and corridor turns before shipping and send the management company the dimensions, weight and a note confirming it needs no fixings into walls or floor. One afternoon of assembly by our installers; when the lease ends, it packs down again.

Rental villas and guest use

Holiday lets on Mahé and Praslin increasingly list a sauna, and an infrared cabin is the version a landlord can add without planning or plumbing. For guest use we set a maximum session time on the controller, fit a simple one-button start, and leave a laminated card beside the door in English, German, French and Russian, the languages of the islands' biggest visitor markets.

Housekeeping needs only a damp cloth on the bench and glass; there is no water to drain and nothing to descale, which is exactly why a villa manager with a small team prefers it.
