Flat, reclaimed and easy to reach

Vehicles get to the door, the ground is level, and materials arrive on a trolley rather than on shoulders. After a year of hillside plots this is a relief, and it shows in the programme: an Eden Island installation runs a week faster than the same job at Glacis.

What it does not remove is the marine specification. This is reclaimed land in the middle of a lagoon and the salt exposure is as high as anywhere on Mahé.

Apartments: the lift and the terrace slab

In the apartment buildings the constraints are the service lift dimensions, the terrace loading and the management company's rules on external units. We measure the lift before quoting and keep panels to a size that fits it.

A 900-litre tub is close to a tonne once filled. On a terrace we check the structural drawing before quoting anything that holds water, without exception — and on a reclaimed-land development that check matters more, not less.

Villas with moorings

The waterfront villas have space for a full arrangement: cabin, plunge, rinse and a shaded bench facing the water. Plant goes into a louvred enclosure on the landward side with anti-vibration mounts, because the neighbours here are close and the evenings are quiet.
