Design the circuit, not the rooms

Guests move hot, cold, rest and repeat. If the plunge is across a corridor from the sauna the circuit breaks and the suite gets used once per stay. We lay out the sequence and fit the architecture to it, not the other way round.

Two plunge positions per eight sauna seats keeps the flow moving at the evening peak, which on a beach resort is the ninety minutes after sunset.

Duplicated plant and spares on the island

A suite in high season cannot close because a generator scaled. Critical items duplicated, isolation valves on each room, and a spares kit with part numbers physically on the property.

That last point matters more here than almost anywhere. A part that takes two days to reach Mahé can take a fortnight to reach a lodge on an outer island, and a fortnight in January is a season's reviews.

Documentation and training

Two days of staff training at handover on operation, cleaning chemistry, water testing and the log book, then a return visit at six months to check the log is being kept. Resort maintenance teams turn over, and a suite nobody was ever shown how to run is broken by its second year.
