Lay out the loop before the rooms

A thermal suite works when sauna, cold water and a place to rest are a few steps apart. Put them on opposite sides of a corridor and guests try the circuit once. We draw the loop first and fit the architecture around it, and we plan a pair of cold tubs for each eight sauna places, which keeps the post-sunset crowd moving.

Parts on the island, not on order

A resort cannot close its spa in January because a generator scaled. Critical plant is duplicated, each room can be isolated on its own valves, and labelled spares stay on the property. A part that reaches Mahé in days can take a fortnight to arrive on an outer island in high season, and a fortnight of complaints costs more than the spares.

Hotel spa floors we have delivered

Our factory has completed 220 hotel spa projects, including spa floors for Hilton, Hyatt, Sofitel, Rixos and Kempinski, and 78 in every 100 clients have come back to us for another project. Our Sofitel Thalassa project in Algiers (2022) put a sauna, steam room, hammam and salt wall onto a floor dedicated to seawater therapy — salt-laden conditions much like a Mahé or Praslin beachfront.

Private-island lodges add a layer: their own power and water, a boat schedule for every delivery and a small engineering team. For them the plant list is kept deliberately short, loads are sequenced for the generator, and the spares box is fuller than a Mahé resort would need.

Budgets, programme and training

Hotel programmes follow the construction schedule; refits are phased room by room behind screens, ideally in the quieter months between the European holiday peaks. Spa therapists and hotel engineers are taught to run it before we leave, and half a year later we sit down with them over their records to see what needs adjusting.
