How the sizing works

The same arithmetic we use in a real quote

Heater capacity starts at 0.85 kW per cubic metre of insulated cabin and is multiplied by an altitude factor where the country needs one — Kenya's highland sites take a correction, sea-level countries do not. Glazed area is then added at roughly 0.42 kW per square metre, because glass loses heat far faster than an insulated wall, and the result is rounded up to the next heater we can actually buy.

Chiller selection follows tub volume: 1 HP to about 260 litres, 2 HP to about 570, 4 HP beyond. We then adjust for the ambient at your site, for shade and for whether the tub has a lid — on an African coast that adjustment is upward, and in the highlands it is frequently down to nothing.

Anything above 8 kW wants a three-phase supply. Where a property runs on an inverter and a generator instead, the heater goes on a scheduled circuit and is interlocked against the chiller so the two never start together.
