Why the chiller is not optional

Sea temperature around Mahé sits in the high twenties for most of the year and the nights barely drop. An insulated tub left alone will settle somewhere around ambient and stay there, which is refreshing for about four seconds and useless for contrast therapy.

So we insulate the shell and the base properly, fit a lid light enough that people actually close it, design shade into the layout, and only then size the chiller — a step up from a temperate figure, because the machine never gets a cool night off.

Plant that survives the air

Titanium heat exchanger in the water circuit, because the water is cold, circulating and usually ozonated. A sealed enclosure with washable pre-filters so the condenser breathes filtered air rather than salt aerosol. Everything raised off the ground and away from splash.

A quarterly service including a corrosion inspection is quoted with the installation rather than sold afterwards, because on these islands it is the service that decides the machine's lifespan.

Shade is the cheapest equipment you will buy

A tub under a takamaka canopy runs measurably cheaper than one on an open terrace, every month, for the life of the installation. We site for shade first and size the chiller second, and where a client insists on full sun we show them both numbers.
