Cold water that has to be made, all year

Mains water and air never get cold on the coast, so every club ice bath needs a chiller, twelve months a year. That makes efficiency the first design question: insulated tubs, lids that go back on between users, an indoor or shaded position and, in a tower, a plant space where the chiller can reject its heat without cooking the corridor.

Hygiene is the hard part in the tropics

Warm ambient speeds up everything that grows in shared water. Circulation, cartridge filtration and ozone or UV are standard on every tub, a rinse shower stands at the entrance, and a cleaning log with a name on it hangs on the wall. With those, water lasts about a month; without them, it needs changing weekly and still is not pleasant.

Sized for the evening crowd

Office gyms in Ebène fill before and after work; coastal clubs fill after the morning surf or kite session and in the early evening. One tub serves ten or so people an hour once changeover is counted, so a club that sends a class of twenty to the recovery room needs three tubs, not the one or two first planned. Trail runners and kitesurfers usually want heat as much as cold, which argues for a sauna of eight to ten places alongside.

Towers, slabs and power

A full tub with a person in it weighs close to a tonne, so in an Ebène or Port Louis tower the slab is checked and the drainage agreed with building management before we quote. Mauritius supplies 230 V single phase and 400 V three phase through CEB; two chillers and a commercial sauna heater want three phase, which most commercial buildings have. On the coast the plant also gets sealed, filtered enclosures and A4 stainless fixings against salt.

What it costs and how it arrives

A recovery zone with two tubs and a sauna sits at 330 to 700 thousand rupees indicative, supplied and installed; a plunge pool for six to eight people runs 760 thousand to 1.45 million. Tubs and sauna are built and dry-assembled in our Istanbul factory, shipped to Port Louis and fitted by our own crew, with a spares kit left on site.
