Recovery zones for gyms and clubs

Hygiene first

Warm ambient accelerates everything that grows in water. Circulation, cartridge filtration and an ozone or UV stage are mandatory, and a rinse shower at the entry point turns a weekly water change into a monthly one.

A visible cleaning schedule with a name against it does more for water quality than any single piece of equipment.

Throughput

Two to four minutes in the water plus changeover gives ten to fifteen people per tub per hour. Size on the evening peak, not the membership list, and expect to need one more position than first imagined.

Floor and slab

Falls to a channel drain, a non-slip surface that survives chlorine, and a towel point that keeps wet feet off the gym floor. A 900-litre tub is nearly a tonne before anyone is in it.

In short

  • Circulation, filtration and ozone or UV are mandatory in this climate
  • Rinse shower at entry turns a weekly water change into a monthly one
  • 10–15 people per tub per hour at peak
  • Slab detail checked before quoting anything holding water
