Cool evenings sell saunas

Unlike the coast, nobody in Arusha needs convincing that a sauna makes sense. Evenings here are cool and the sauna is used all year, usually in the winter months hardest.

The corollary is that the plunge is cheap to run: a shaded insulated tub holds low temperatures here with a small machine, and for a 14–16 °C plunge often with none at all.

Altitude correction on the heater

Thinner air carries less heat, so we apply an altitude correction to the heater sizing rather than using a sea-level figure. It is a modest adjustment at Arusha's elevation and a significant one higher up the circuit, and either way it comes off the site elevation rather than a national average.
