Zanzibar and the coast

Salt reaches every part of an island cabin, so every fixing is A4 stainless, the end grain is sealed in the factory before assembly, the cabin stands on a ventilated void and the extract runs on a humidistat. A coral-rag plinth suits the setting well; a makuti roof over the cabin gives shade if it is fixed properly against the monsoon winds.

The session is usually at sunset, with a cold plunge beside the cabin. Without the cold water a sauna on the island is a hard sell, and we would say so before you spend the money.

Dar es Salaam

The city is humid year round but a few kilometres inland the salt load drops. Ventilation is still the main decision; fixing grade and plant enclosure can step down slightly from beach specification in Mikocheni or Mbezi, though not on the Msasani peninsula.

TANESCO supplies 230 V single phase and 400 V three phase. Most villas have a generator, so the heater gets its own breaker and the controls stop it and the chiller from starting at the same moment.

Arusha, Moshi and the crater rim

Arusha lies at about 1,400 m and the Ngorongoro rim near 2,300 m. Thin air carries less heat per kilowatt, so the heater is corrected upwards for your site's elevation and the floor is insulated like the walls, because highland lodges sit on cold ground.

Made in our factory, carried to your site

Cabins are built and dry-assembled in our Istanbul factory, where we have made saunas since 1987, then labelled and crated with fixings and spares. They clear customs at Dar es Salaam; island orders continue by cargo vessel to Malindi port in Stone Town, and northern ones go up the road to Arusha. Our own crew installs, commissions and trains your staff. Allow six to ten weeks per cabin after the drawing is approved, plus shipping and the crossing.
