What an infrared cabin is, and what it is not

Infrared emitters warm your skin and muscles directly while the air in the cabin sits at 45–60 °C. A two-person cabin draws 1.5 to 2.5 kW and is ready in about fifteen minutes. There are no stones and no water, so there is no löyly, and we will not sell it to you as a Finnish sauna.

What it gives a flat is a room that asks for nothing structural: no supply application, no flue, no tanking and no drain. We use emitters and controls from Sentiotec and EOS, two of the brands we have officially sold since 2015.

Altitude does not matter; the cold season does

A convection sauna in Nairobi needs its heater sized up because thin air carries less heat. Infrared does not heat the air to reach you, so the altitude correction disappears — it is the one room in our range that behaves identically in Kilimani and in Mombasa.

What you will notice is June to August, when Nairobi evenings fall to around 11–12 °C. A cabin standing against an external wall or under a window takes a few minutes longer to feel ready, so we place it on an internal wall where the flat allows.

One socket, and what happens during an outage

Kenya uses 240 V and the square three-pin socket. A 2 kW cabin draws about 8–9 A, well inside a 13 A plug, but we still ask for its own circuit from the consumer unit so it never shares with a kettle or an iron.

When Kenya Power drops out, a 2 kW cabin can finish a session on a typical home inverter and battery bank; a 9 kW sauna heater cannot. A forty-minute session uses about 1.3 kWh — KSh 35–40 at Kenya's household price of roughly KSh 28 a unit, as GlobalPetrolPrices tracked it in December 2025.

Getting it into a Nairobi block

Most apartment buildings here are run by a management company with rules on deliveries and works. We send them the cabin dimensions, the load (under 200 kg for a two-person cabin) and confirmation that no water or wall chasing is involved, which is usually enough.

The cabin arrives flat-packed from our factory. We measure the lift car and the stair turns first; our crew carries it up, assembles it in an afternoon and shows you the controls. When your lease ends, it comes apart and moves with you.
