Recovery zones for gyms, padel and rugby clubs

Squad throughput

Two to four minutes in the water plus changeover gives ten to fifteen people per tub per hour. A rugby squad is twenty-five people wanting the same fifteen minutes, so we size on the squad and usually land on four positions.

Clubs almost always ask for a larger sauna and fewer tubs than they need. We push back, because the queue forms at the cold water, not at the heat.

Floor, drainage and slab

Falls to a channel drain, a non-slip surface that survives chlorine, and a towel point that stops wet feet crossing a gym floor. A 900-litre tub is nearly a tonne before anyone is in it, so on a suspended floor we ask for the slab detail before quoting.

Hygiene, and the altitude advantage

Circulation, cartridge filtration and an ozone or UV stage on shared water, a rinse shower at entry and a cleaning schedule with a name on it.

Nairobi's cool nights help here too: shared water at altitude stays colder between sessions, which slows everything that grows in it and stretches the interval between water changes.
