Drier, and the nights help a little

Abuja is drier than Lagos and the nights, particularly in the harmattan months, are noticeably cooler. That does not remove the need for a chiller, but it does reduce its duty cycle and its monthly bill against an identical tub on the lagoon.

The dry air also makes a traditional sauna a more comfortable proposition here than it is on the coast, and clients use them for more of the year.

Harmattan is the engineering problem

From roughly December to February, fine dust is everywhere. A harmattan-blanketed condenser cannot reject heat regardless of its size, and that is the commonest cause of chiller failure we see in Abuja.

Washable pre-filters, a sealed plant housing, units sited away from the approach and prevailing dust, and a shorter service interval through the dusty months with a filter change built into the household routine between our visits.

Space and supply

Plots here take the full arrangement comfortably, and three-phase is common enough that a large cabin is a straightforward specification rather than an application. We still survey the board and the inverter, because a three-phase supply that is only present half the day is functionally a single-phase one.
