Dust is the design problem

Dry-season dust blankets a condenser in weeks out here, and a blanketed condenser cannot reject heat no matter how large it is. Washable pre-filters, sealed plant housings, units sited away from the approach track, and a three-month service interval that we actually keep.

The same dust gets into everything else too, so hinges, fixings and seals are specified to be cleanable rather than sealed-for-life.

Water and power are both budgets

Camps truck or borehole their water and run solar with generator backup. The plunge is sized to the water budget, not the brief; the heater and chiller are sequenced so they never start together; and the lid is an operating saving measured in litres and kilowatt-hours, not a nicety.

Where camps are seasonal we build in a shutdown routine — drain, cover, protect — so the installation survives the months nobody is there.

Service in blocks, not call-outs

Nobody is driving out here for a filter. We service in scheduled blocks so several camps share the travel, leave a spares kit with part numbers, and train the camp team to handle the routine work themselves.
