Thermal suites and cold plunges for Nungwi hotels and villas: high-season phasing, duplicated plant, salt spec…
Read more →Michamvi is the quiet end of the east coast — private villas on their own plots, most of them facing west across the lagoon, which is why almost every deck we build here is designed around the evening.

Michamvi is one of the few places on Zanzibar where the sun sets over water, and villa owners build their whole evening around it. We put the plunge where the light lands and the cabin where the glass will not glare, which is the opposite of how we lay out an east-coast plot.
That also fixes the session time at sunset, which conveniently is when ambient temperature finally drops and the chiller stops working against the afternoon.
Grid here is present but not dependable, and most villas run a generator. Heater and chiller must never start together on a generator, so we sequence them in the controls and give you the real running figures rather than nameplate numbers.
Where there is solar with batteries we schedule the heater into the solar window and let the plunge hold overnight on its lid.
This is an exposed beach plot: A4 stainless everywhere including fixings nobody sees, sealed end grain before assembly, ventilated void under the cabin and a sealed filtered enclosure for the chiller. Anything plated fails here within a season and looks like poor workmanship when it is really the wrong specification.
Yes, with the loads sequenced so heater and chiller never start together. We give you the real consumption figures with the quote.
Nothing on this coast is too exposed if it is specified for salt. What fails is inland specification installed on a beach.
