Descending trekkers arrive cold, filthy and sore, and the lodge that offers a hot cabin and a hot shower gets remembered and reviewed. The sequence here is heat first, cold second, and for many guests the cold is optional.

Capacity matters because groups arrive together: a cabin sized for two is useless when twelve people come off the mountain at once. We size on group size, not household size.

Cold nights, insulated floors

Nights below the mountain are genuinely cold and lodges sit on cold ground. We insulate the floor as thoroughly as the walls, keep pipework inside the insulated envelope and correct the heater for altitude. The result is a cabin that reaches temperature quickly in the one hour it is actually wanted.

Wood-fired makes sense here

Where a lodge wants it, a wood-fired stove works well in this region: fuel is available, the character suits the setting, and it removes the load from a stretched supply entirely. It needs a correct flue, proper clearances, a spark arrestor and a fire-resistant floor plate — all of which we install rather than improvise.
