Boulders, and what to do with them

The granite here is the whole character of the place, and the villas that work are the ones built around it. We design with boulders as walls and backdrops, and where the stone is right we carve the plunge basin from a block off the plot itself.

That basin is measured in tonnes, so the route it travels and the structure it sits on are designed before the shape is. On a ground-level terrace over rock it is straightforward; anywhere else it needs an engineer.

Access is by narrow road and then on foot

The approach to these properties is narrow and often ends above or below the house. Panels are sized to the carry and the carry is priced as its own line. On a north Praslin plot it is frequently the largest single access cost we quote.

Shade and salt together
