Chillers for humid heat and harmattan dust

What we install

An outdoor-rated cabinet with a titanium heat exchanger, because the water is cold, circulating and usually ozonated. Insulated hoses connecting low in the tub wall so nothing crosses the rim. A louvred enclosure with washable pre-filters, raised off the ground, on anti-vibration mounts.

It runs to a setpoint in cycles and lets the lid do the overnight work, which is what gives a compressor a working life rather than a warranty period.

Sizing by location

Lagos and Port Harcourt: a step up from temperate figures, always. Warm humid nights mean the unit never gets a rest, and delta humidity adds a corrosion problem on top.

Abuja and the north: similar ambient for most of the year, but a real dust problem from roughly December to February. A harmattan-blanketed condenser cannot reject heat regardless of size, so a dust package and a shorter service interval matter more than capacity.

Properties with both — and a few clients own houses in Lagos and Abuja — get both specifications quoted explicitly rather than an average.

Service, scheduled

Lagos on a quarterly cycle, or more often for shared installations. Abuja, Port Harcourt and the south-east in scheduled blocks so several properties share the travel.

Lagos and delta visits include a corrosion inspection; northern visits include a dust inspection and a filter change through the harmattan.
