Service, repairs and second lives

What a service includes

Sauna: stones out, sorted, turned or replaced, element resistance checked, thermostat and overheat cut-out tested, bench fixings tightened, timber cleaned, vents cleared of dust.

Steam: generator descaled, probe cleaned, drain and trap flushed, silicone checked, extract timer tested. Plunge: condenser cleaned, pressures read, cartridge changed, ozone cell checked, water tested.

The Red Sea corrosion check

On coastal installations we add an inspection of every fixing, hinge, latch and plant enclosure, plus the end grain of any exposed timber. Red Sea salt at around 40 parts per thousand is more aggressive than Mediterranean salt, and the failures start at the smallest metal parts.

Refurbishment

An old cabin with a sound shell is usually worth re-lining rather than replacing: strip the benches and lining, check the vapour barrier and insulation, re-line, new heater and controls. It comes in well under a new cabin, and older carcasses are often better built than what is sold today.
