Dust decides the plant position

The desert edge means fine dust most of the year and heavy dust in khamsin season. A chiller condenser here blankets in weeks rather than months.

We fit washable pre-filters, put grilles away from the prevailing wind, keep units shaded and clear, and service quarterly instead of half-yearly. In khamsin season we check after the storm rather than on the calendar.

Shade is not decoration

A cabin in full sun on this side of the city is unusable before nine in the evening and expensive to cool anything next to it. We design a pergola or a screen at the same time as the cabin, because shade added later never looks deliberate.

Planting helps as much as structure. A row of mature trees on the west side is worth more than another size of compressor.

Space for the whole sequence

Gardens here take the full arrangement — cabin, plunge, rinse shower and a shaded bench — without losing the lawn. That completeness is what turns a room used twice a week into one used most evenings.
